Govt pledge bound to hold free and fair polls, Anisul to British HC

The ruling Awami League government is pledged bound to the countrymen to hold a free, fair and violence-free national election, said Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq.

He came up with the vow while British High Commissioner in Dhaka Sarah Cooke paid a courtesy call on him at his office on Thursday.

While replying to journalists over his meeting with the British envoy he said more or less the attention of the government is on polls and it is pledge bound to the people to hold a free, fair and violence free election.

During the meeting, they spoke about a range of topics related to their shared interests, including the upcoming election, legal sector collaboration, and Bangladesh's socioeconomic development.

Md Golam Sarwar, secretary of the law and justice division, and British High Commission officials Md Rafiquzzaman and Vanessa Beaumont were present in the meet.
