US wants violent-free elections in Bangladesh

US Ambassador to Dhaka Peter Haas said that the upcoming national elections in Bangladesh should be violent-free and US wants it.

He told reporters this after a meeting with Awami League leaders at the party's central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on Thursday.

Peter Haas said that everyone, including the media, needs security in elections.

The American ambassador said that today's meeting at the Awami League office is part of the regular meeting with the political parties.
