Govt to abolish Digital Security Act

The government has taken a policy-level decision to abolish the 'notorious' Digital Security Act (DSA).

This decision came at a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday morning.

A reliable source at the cabinet told the Daily Samakal that instead of the DSA, the cabinet decided to put more emphasis on the 'Cyber Security Act -2023.'

However, while the DSA will no longer exist, it is also true that not all sections of the law will be abolished.

Law, justice and parliamentary affairs minister Anisul Huq told the Daily Samakal that some sections of the DSA will be abolished.
