National elections observers: 68 local organisations primarily finalised

The Election Commission (EC) has picked up 68 local organisations to work as election observers for the upcoming 12th national elections.  

The commission specified a 15-day timeframe for submitting claims, objections, or complaints over the short-listed institutions in a public notice published on Tuesday.  

The Election Commission has issued a notice stating that after these complaints and claims have been settled, the EC would formally register those as the monitoring institutions for the ensuing five years.

According to EC sources, some 199 private institutions applied to the commission to register as poll observers.

A seven-member commission committee looked through the petitions and decided to approve 68 of those.

In the most current registration procedure, which was conducted in 2018, a total of 118 institutions acquired registration to serve as election observers. As of July 11, their registration was no longer valid. 

A new registration application has been submitted by about 40 of the 118 institutions.
