Rain likely in parts of country

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted rain in some parts of the country on Thursday, as Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay.

"Light to moderate rain and thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka and Khulna divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country," reads a BMD weather bulletin.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country, according to the forecast valid for 24 hours, commencing at 9am on Thursday.

Rainfall activity may increase in the next 72 hours, the bulletin adds.

Meanwhile, an inland riverport warning issued Thursday has predicted squally weather in Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, and Sylhet. Riverports in these districts were advised to hoist Cautionary Signal No One (R) One.
