Young physician dies of dengue in Dhaka

A young physician, Sharifa Binte Aziz, 27, has died at around five in the morning on Friday while undergoing treatment at intensive care unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

According to Brigadier General Nazmul Hossain, the hospital's director, “Dr. Sharifa had dengue. Before being brought here, she was undergoing treatment at Islami Bank Hospital when her condition deteriorated.”

“Then, we admitted her to critical care unit. But when she got there, she was in such bad condition that she had a heart attack and died at dawn,” he continied.

Sharifa attended Dhaka Medical College for her FSPS part-2 course after completing her MBBS at Rangpur Medical College.

She hailed from Jaipara area Dohar Upazila in Dhaka.
