Dhaka elevated expressway to be opened Sept 2

The country's first elevated expressway will be launched on September 2, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said at the Awami League Central Working Committee (ALCWC) meeting at Ganabhaban on Saturday.

Several mega projects will be launched soon, she said, adding that all the projects have to be launched before the upcoming election schedule is announced.

"Dhaka Elevated Expressway will be formally inaugurated on September 2. A large rally will be held on the occasion," she said.

The total length of the Dhaka Elevated Expressway (DEE) is 46.73 km including 19.73 km of main elevated portion, and 31 ramps having 27 km long in and out route for vehicles.

The total expenditure of the project is estimated at Tk 8,940 crore. Of the total cost, Tk 2,413 crore will be provided by the Bangladesh government.
