PM to open elevated expressway on Sept 2, Bangabandhu Tunnel on Oct 28

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the elevated expressway’s Airport to Farmgate portion on September 2.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader made the announcement at a press conference organised at Setu Bhaban in city’s Banani area on Monday.

Quader, also AL general secretary said the PM will open Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel, constructed in Chattogram, on October 28 next.

He added that the elevated expressway's airport to Farmgate segment is ready for traffic.

Three-wheelers, bicycles, and pedestrians will not be permitted to travel on the expressway, and motorbikes are now prohibited from using it, according to the ministry of road transport and bridges.

"The toll for this stretch has not yet been determined. Discussion is ongoing,” he continued.

Md Monjur Hossain, the secretary of the Bridges Division, was among those in attendance at the news conference.
