5.5-magnitude earthquake shakes parts of Bangladesh

A 5.5 magnitude earthquake shook Dhaka and several other parts of Bangladesh on Monday night, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).

The tremor was felt at 8:49pm.

The epicentre of the quake was 7km off Sylhet's Kanaighat, said Hafizur Rahman, a meteorologist at Dhaka Met office.
