34 institutions fined Tk 14.25 lakh for selling eggs at higher price

A mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has fined 34 institutions Tk 14.25 lakh in two drives at five separate places in the city for selling eggs and other essential commodities at higher prices.

"Mobile court of RAB-10 and RAB-1 carried out the drives separately in capital's Kaptan bazaar, Wari, Jatrabari, Badda and Sattarkul road area from 4am to 1pm today", RAB-10 Senior Assistant Director (Media officer) ASP M Fakhrul Hasan told BSS on Monday.

A team of RAB-10, led by Magistrate Director Md Mazharul Islam, conducted a drive in the capital's Kaptan bazaar, Wari and Jatrabari area this morning and fined 27 institutions including some egg-wholesalers Tk 12.15 lakh for not hanging the egg's price list alongside selling eggs without having any original receipts.

Meanwhile, a team of RAB-1, led by RAB HQ Executive Magistrate Nadir Shah, conducted a drive in the capital's Badda area and fined 7 institutions Tk 2.10 Lakh for selling essential commodities at higher prices and not hanging price lists.

The process of storing the collected money in the government fund is underway, said RAB-1 Senior Assistant Director (Media Officer) Md Parvez Ran.
