Sayeedi's death: BSMMU doctor receives death threats

A doctor at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) has received death threats regarding the death of the convicted war criminal and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delwar Hossain Sayeedi while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Professor Dr S M Mostafa Zaman filed a General Diary (GD) with the capital's Dhanmondi Police Station in this regard, asking for protection.

Dr Zaman wrote in the GD that after Delwar Hossain Sayeedi's death, he has been receiving death threats on social media platforms. Aside from that misinformation about him is also circulating from several YouTube channels. He mentioned three Facebook pages, groups, and YouTube channel links in the GD.

Confirming the matter, Dhanmondi Police Station has said an investigation is ongoing.

Delwar Hossain Sayeedi died at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) on Monday night. He was 83. He breathed his last at 8:40pm, BSMMU Director Brigadier General Dr Md Rezaur Rahman told The Daily Samakal.

On Sunday afternoon, Sayeedi was admitted to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University as he felt chest pain.
