PM to open Agargaon-Motijheel metro line on Oct 20

Sheikh Hasina, the prime minister of Bangladesh, will open the Agargaon-Motijheel segment of the metro train on October 20.

Obaidul Quader, the minister of roads and bridges, gave media a briefing on the development on Sunday at the secretariat.

The metro rail segment between Agargaon and Motijheel, formerly known as MRT Line 6, will go into service on October 20, said Quader. 

To mark the event, the prime minister will deliver a speech during a rally at the historic Suhrawardi Udyan in the capital. 

The Uttara-Agargaon section of the country's first metro rail line was opened to public in December of the previous year.

The government is implementing a quick-track initiative to build a 21.26-kilometer elevated metro line from Uttara to Kamalapur at a cost of Tk 33, 472 crore.
