Khairuzzaman Mozumder made finance secretary

Dr. Md. Khairuzzaman Mozumder, currently acting as secretary, Energy and Mineral Resources Division, has been named as the Finance Division's secretary.

The Public Administration Ministry, in a notification on Wednesday, said Dr. Mozumder's appointment to the office of Finance Division would start on August 28.

Dr. Mozumder is an accomplished professional with a 30-year career encompassing a variety of fields, including finance, macroeconomics, international economics, customs, trade facilitation issues, international development, WTO issues, and international trade. 

Before moving on to the Energy and Mineral Resources Division of the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, he served as the Additional Secretary (Macroeconomic) in the Finance Division of the Finance Ministry.

He joined the BCS (Customs & Excise) at the National Board of Revenue, a branch of the Ministry of Finance, in April 1993 as a member of the 11th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration).

Dr. Mozumder received his political economy PhD from the University of Essex in the United Kingdom. He also has a master's degree in political economy from McGill University in Canada. Prior to receiving First Class honors for his MSS in International Relations from the University of Dhaka, he won First Class first place for his BSS (Honors) in International Relations from the same university. 

He also received a certificate in advanced French.
