Ex-husband's plan behind abduction of NBR official: RAB

RAB has arrested three people, including the main accused Masud, in connection with the abduction of a woman, Joint Commissioner of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), from Siddheshwari area of the capital. 

During the initial interrogation, the accused driver Masud and his associates said her ex-husband Harun Or Rashid had agreed to kidnap the victim for Tk 70,000.

RAB Headquarters Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin made the disclosure in a press conference on Saturday. 

Earlier on Friday night, the accused were arrested from Sreepur of Gazipur and Sabujbagh area of the capital.

RAB said the abductors were supposed to take the victim to a house in Hatirjheel police station area. After the kidnapping, Harun promised to pay a huge amount of money to the mastermind of the kidnapping, Masum alias Masud, if the victim is delivered to the designated place.

On August 17, a group of 10-12 people, including Masud, beat up Masuma in front of Gate No. 9 of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in Siddheshwari of the capital. Later they abducted and took her to Sabujbagh and locked her in a car in the garage of a house near Nandipara graveyard. 

The next day when she managed to get out of the car and screamed the people around came and rescued her. At that time, the locals seized her private car and Masud's three associates and handed them over to the police.

On Friday, Masuma's husband Elias complained the former and current drivers of his wife's car and her ex-husband Harun Or Rashid were involved in the incident. 

Police, however, are not doing action as Harun was a former tax commissioner, he claimed. 

Doctors said it will take more time to improve the physical condition of Masuma.
