16 more dengue deaths in a day

As the country confronts a record-breaking dengue outbreak, at least 16 further dengue deaths happened in the 24 hours before to 8:00am on Sunday.

The capital of the country was home to eight of the 16 fatalities.

At least 2,608 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in a 24-hour period, according to data from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

At least 634 individuals have died and almost 1,30,302 have been infected this year, making the deadliest on record.

The first dengue epidemic was first noted in 2000.
