11 more die from dengue

At least 11 more people died from dengue in the 24 hours as of 8:00am on Tuesday, as the country battles a record-breaking mosquito-borne dengue outbreak.

The capital of the country reported eight of the 11 fatalities.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reports that during a 24-hour period, at least 2,782 dengue patients were admitted to different hospitals across the country.

Over 135,716 people have been infected with dengue since the first recorded epidemic started in 2000, and at least 657 have died as a result.

According to DGHS data, a total of 9,132 dengue patients were being treated at various hospitals across the country.

Hospitals all around the country have discharged a total of 1,26,127 patients this year.

According to health officials, hospitals are having a difficult time treating the large number of patients who are experiencing high fevers, joint pain, and vomiting, especially in Dhaka.

They claimed that measures had been taken by the government to halt the spread of diseases brought on by mosquitoes.

There is no specific vaccination or treatment for dengue, which is common in South Asia from June to September because the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which is the disease's carrier, thrives in stagnant water.
