Ex-BCL leaders demand expulsion of ADC Harun

Former leaders of the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) have called for the expulsion of Harun-or-Rashid, the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Ramna Division, and disciplinary measures against him regarding the allegations of assault and torture of two BCL leaders in a police station.

The call came at a human chain programme under the banners of 'Gazipur Jela Chhatro Kollyan Somiti' and 'General Students' held at the Raju Memorial sculpture in Dhaka University at around noon on Monday.

Former BCL leader Kamal Khan urged bringing ADC Harun to task, while Gazipur Jela Chhatro Kollyan Somiti chief Ashik Rabbani Jihan called for his permanent expulsion from the force.

Meanwhile, BCL President Saddam Hossain visited the DMP headquarters on Monday for a meeting with the DMP chief regarding this matter.

Harun-or-Rashid allegedly took two central leaders of the BCL to the Shahbag police station and brutally beat them on Saturday.

On Sunday, the DMP commissioner Khandkar Golam Faruq issued an order to attach ADC Harun with the Public Order Management (POM) east. Later, he was transferred to the Armed Police Battalion.
