Fire at Dhaka's Krishi Market under control

A massive fire which broke out at Krishi Market in Dhaka's Mohammadpur area has been brought under control after five and a half hours. 

At a press conference held at 9:45am on Thursday, Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) Director (Operation & Maintenance) Lt Col Tajul Islam confirmed that 17 units fought to bring the blaze under control. The incident is being investigated.

The fire broke out at around 3:45am on Thursday. However, the origin of the fire could not be known immediately.

Confirming the matter, FSCD media cell official Anwarul Islam Dolon said they received information about the fire at around 3:43am. The first unit reached the spot at 3:52am. 

Members of the armed forces also joined the FSCD in battling the blaze.
