Death-row convict in war crimes case arrested

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested a convicted Razakar who was sentenced to death by International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 in absentia for his crime against humanity in 1971.

The arrestee is Md Nurul Amin Howlader, senior ASP Shihab Karim.

He said acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-2 conducted raid in Dhaka Udyan area in Mohammadpur around 8 pm and arrested Howlader.

The convict has been sent to court after primary interrogation, RAB sources said.

On July 20, 2023, the ICT-1 convicted and sentenced four Razakars, including Nurul Amin Howlader from Bhandaria upazila in Pirojpur to death. 

The other three convicts include Abdul Mannan Howlader, Ashraf Ali alias Asrab Ali Howlader and Md Moharaj Howlader alias Hatkata Moharaj.
