Bhuban succumbs to head injury

Bhuban Chandra Shil, a man who sustained a gunshot to his head in the capital earlier this month, has succumbed to his injuries.

Bhuban, 52, passed away at around 10:30am on Monday at a private hospital in the capital, confirmed his brother-in-law Tapas Majumdar.

Lawyer Bhuban was returning home on the evening of September 18 when he was shot by miscreants at the capital's BG Press area. Two others were also injured in the incident, but they returned home after receiving treatment. Bhuban was put on life support.

On Friday, doctors attempted surgery on him. After more than 2.30 hours of effort, two bullet splinters were removed from his head, but the bullet itself remained lodged in his brain.

Doctors said if the bullet was removed, his brain would become completely unresponsive.

Bhuban's wife Ratna Rani Shil filed a case with Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station in this connection.
