Man arrested with 3,500 Yaba pills in stomach

Police arrested a private aircraft passenger and recovered some 3,500 pieces of Yaba tablets from inside his stomach at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Monday night.

The arrestee was identified as M Zahid Hossen, 25, son of M Abdul Gafur. He hailed from Teknaf thana under Cox's Bazar district.

"Members of the Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn) arrested him (Zahid) when he arrived at HSIA on a flight (BS-156) of US-Bangla Airlines from Cox's Bazar at 6:30pm on Monday as his movement was highly suspicious", said APBN's additional police super Mohammad Ziaul Huq.

After interrogation, Zahid admitted that he was carrying 3,500 Yaba tablets inside his stomach. The doctors of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) recovered the contraband items from his stomach after he gave a confessional statement to the Police.

A case has been filed against him with the Airport police station. APBn handed him over to the police last night.
