By-polls to B'baria-2, Laxmipur-3 constituencies on Nov 5

The Election Commission has set November 5 to hold by-elections to Brahmanbaria-2 and Lakshmipur-3 constituencies.

Election Commission Secretary Jahangir Alam made the announcement of the schedule of the elections after a meeting of the commissioners on Tuesday.

As per the schedule, the last date for submission of nomination papers is October 11 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 19.

The two constituencies fell into vacant after the deaths of former aviation and tourism minister and Lakshmipur-3 lawmaker AKM Shahjahan Kamal, and Brahmanbaria-2 lawmaker Abdus Sattar Bhuiyan on Saturday.
