We hope Samakal will speak for people: Nanak

Awami League's Presidium Member Jahangir Kabir Nanak has expressed the hope that The Daily Samakal will continue to speak for the people of the country.

He made the remark at a function at Times Media Bhaban marking the 18th founding anniversary of The Daily Samakal in the capital on Saturday.

"As Samakal has become 19 years old, I have also been a regular reader of Samakal for the last 19 years," the veteran politician said.

"I have a weak spot for the Daily Samakal, and I remember Golam Sarwar, the eminent journalist.

I express deep respect to his soul," he added.

Jahangir Kabir Nanak went on to say, "Samakal will maintain its quality, will continue to speak for the liberation war and play an important role in the development of the country.

"Samakal will support the powerful steps taken by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina against destructive politics, will speak for the people, speak for Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman - that is what we hope for."
