BNP leader Annie remanded for 4 days

A court in Dhaka has put BNP’s central committee publicity secretary and media cell member secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie on four-day remand filed for making attack on police.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Rashidul Alam passed the order on Wednesday after he was placed before the court with a seven-day remand plea.

Annie was arrested by the police from Dhanmondi in the early hours of Wednesday. Later, he was produced in the court in a case filed under the Sabotage and Explosives Act.

The investigating officer applied to remand him for seven days to investigate the case of obstructing police work and vandalism at Dhanmondi police station. After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rashidul Alam granted a four-day remand.

Earlier in the day, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Dhanmondi Police Station Parvez Islam said Annie was arrested in a 'political' case filed with Dhanmondi Police Station on May 25. At the same time, there were arrest warrants against him in two cases lodged in Lakshmipur.
