Prof Maksud Kamal made DU VC

Professor ASM Maksud Kamal, Dhaka University's Pro-vice Chancellor (Academic), has been made Vice-Chancellor of the university "for the time being".

According to a circular of Education Ministry, he was appointed by President Md. Shahabuddin, who also serves as the university's chancellor.

The circular states that while Prof. Md Akhataruzzaman's term is scheduled to expire on November 3, Prof. ASM Maksud Kamal has been named DU VC.

As per the Dhaka University order of 1973, Prof. Kamal was appointed "for the time being" by the Chancellor due to the Vice-Chancellor's inability to call a senate session, which was meant to propose a three-member panel for VC.
