Unemployment high among graduates

The total number of unemployed individuals in the country is 25,82,000, and the rate of unemployment is 3.53 per cent, according to a recent report by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

The report on the Labour Force Survey 2022, published on the BBS website on Wednesday, reveals the data. However, experts think the real number of unemployed individuals may be higher.

The report says unemployment is higher among graduates and post-graduates. The unemployment rate among them has reached 12 per cent. The number of such individuals is nearly 8 lakhs.

According to BBS's report, the unemployment rate among individuals without any institutional education is slightly over 1 per cent (1,53,000).

The percentage is 1.69 per cent (3,22,000) among those with primary education, 2.82 per cent (7,39,000) among those with secondary education, and 4.94 per cent among those with higher secondary education.
