Police set up check post at Aminbazar

The police have set up a check post at Aminbazar, the entrance to Dhaka, and are searching the passengers and their bag and baggage ahead of the October 28 rallies in the capital city of Dhaka.

The check post and search operation started in front of Aminbazar 20-bed hospital on Dhaka-Aricha highway from 8 am on Friday.

At this time, various long-distance passenger buses, public transport, private cars, high-speed microbuses, motorcycles were stopped and questioned.

Abdur Rashid, Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Savar Model Police Station, said the search is being conducted by setting up check posts on the road. 

“Police are conducting their normal operations to prevent any subversive act, vandalism. However, no one has been arrested from this area so far,” he added.

The ruling Awami League and the main opposition BNP have called separate political rallies in the capital on October 28. Besides, Jamaat has also announced a rally in Motijheel area. Under the circumstances, a tense situation is prevailing in the political arena of the country.
