Transport owners to run buses on Sunday

The Dhaka Road Transport Owners’ Association decided to operate buses on all roads on Sunday despite the BNP's nationwide hartal.

According to a statement signed by Khandkar Enayet Ullah, general secretary of the Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association, "Buses and minibuses will continue to operate on Dhaka city, suburban, and inter-district routes."

They have requested that all roads remain available to regular traffic on Sunday for the owners of transportation organisations and enterprises.

The statement that followed said, "The transport owners and workers vehemently reject this anti-people strike."

Enayet Ullah did point out that the capacity to conduct interdistrict travels will depend on passengers’ availability.

The executives of the association also urged the police administration to strengthen security measures in key areas of the city to ensure smooth traffic flow on the day of the hartal.
