Two arrested over death of Constable Pervez

Two people were arrested on Sunday morning in connection with the killing of police officer Amirul Islam Parvez during the clash between police and BNP protestors on Saturday.

The arrestees are M. Sultan, convener of Polashbari municipality unit of Jubo Dal, and Shamim Reza.

Sultan was arrested from Gaibandha while Shamim from Demra of Dhaka, said Dhaka Metro Politan Commissioner Md Habibur Rahman.

He said the two arrestees directly participated in the murder. They have been identified through CCTV footage.

A murder case was filed with Paltan Model Thana early in the morning following the death of Constable Amirul Islam Parvez.

During the BNP's grand rally on Saturday, BNP workers and officials clashed with police at several points in the city, including the intersections of Dainik Bangla, Shantinagar, Kakrail, Fakirapool, and Nayapaltan. 

Approximately forty-one policemen were injured during the clash, according to the media cell of the DMP. 

Constable Amirul was found injured near Fakirapool Box Culvert road. Soon he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where the duty doctors declared him dead.

The deceased policeman Amirul, hailed from Daulatpur upazila of Manikganj, was working as a constable. His namaz-e-janaza was held at Rajarbagh Police Lines ground on Sunday.
