7 militants handed lighter sentence

The High Court has lightened the sentence of seven militants and sentenced them to remain imprisoned till death, for their roles in the Holey Artisan café attack, the deadliest terror attack in Bangladesh’s history that claimed the lives of 22 people, including 17 foreigners.

A High Court bench comprised of Judge Sahidul Karim and Judge Mostafizur Rahman handed down the verdict on Monday.

The seven convicts are Jahangir Hossain, Aslam Hossain Ryash, Hadisur Rahman, Rakibul Hasan Regan, Abdus Sabur Khan, Mamunur Rashid Ripon and Shariful Islam Khaled. They are imprisoned at the moment.
