Fewer buses ply Dhaka roads

A lesser number of buses and other public transport were seen plying the roads of Dhaka city on Sunday morning, the first of a three-day countrywide blockade enforced by the BNP and Jamaat.

Aside from public buses, private cars were also fewer on the roads of Gulistan, Paltan, Press Club, Shahbagh, Karwan Bazar, Farmgate, Mohakhali, Agargaon, Asadgate, Shyamoli, Mirpur and Gabtali.

The lack of commuters was noticeable at the Gabtali and Mohakhali bus terminals.

On Thursday, the BNP announced a two-day blockade programme (November 5 and 6) across the country to press home their one-point demand for the immediate resignation of the ruling Awami League government.
