20 arrested in DMP anti-drug drives

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 20 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs in the capital in the last 24 hours.

Several drives were carried out simultaneously at different parts of the metropolis from 6am on Wednesday to 6am on Thursday, according to a DMP release.

During the anti-drug drives, police seized 2,461 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets, 15 kg 150 gm of cannabis (ganja), 1.5 gm of heroin, and 5 bottles of Phensedyl, the release added.

Police filed 15 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
