17 held in anti-drugs drives across Dhaka

Members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in several anti-drug drives arrested 17 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs in the last 24 hours.

The drives were carried out simultaneously at different parts of the metropolis from 6am on Friday to 6am on Saturday, according to a DMP release.

During the anti-drug drives, police seized 1,512 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets, 30 grams of Heroin, 1 kg 150 gm of Cannabis (ganja), 14 bottles of Phensedyl, and 70 pieces of Tapentadol tablet, the release added.

Police filed 16 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
