19 arrested in DMP anti-drug drives

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 19 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs in the capital in the last 24 hours.

Several drives were carried out simultaneously at different parts of the metropolis from 6am on Monday to 6am on Tuesday, according to a DMP release.

During the anti-drug drives, police seized 755 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets, 2 kg 100 gm of cannabis (ganja), 1 gm of heroin, 5 bottled of Phensedyl, and 16 narcotic injections, the release added.

Police filed 15 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
