EC to brief media over national polls schedule

The Election Commission (EC) will hold a press briefing over the schedule of the 12th Jatiya Sangsad election on Wednesday at Nirbachan Bhaban in the city's Agargaon, said EC secretary Jahangir Alam.

The briefing will begin at 10am, he said.

Regarding the polls schedule, the EC secretary said the commission will go ahead in line with its constitutional responsibility.

Meanwhile, the EC sources said the commission will hold a meeting at 5pm on Wednesday.

The chief election commissioner (CEC) may announce the polls schedule through an address to the nation after the meeting, sources added.

Security has been beeped up in and around the Nirbachan Bhaban and its adjoining areas.
