Maritime ports asked to hoist local cautionary signal 3

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has advised the country's maritime ports to keep hoisted Local Cautionary Signal No Three (R) Three, as a deep depression has formed in the Bay.

"The depression over West-Central Bay and adjoining area moved North-Eastwards, intensified into a deep depression," reads a special weather bulletin issued Thursday. The deep depression is likely to intensify and move further North-Eastwards.

"Under its influence, deep convection is taking place over North Bay. Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay, and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh," the bulletin adds.

Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted Local Cautionary Signal No Three (R) Three.

The BMD also advised fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea to remain close to the coast.

Meanwhile, the regular weather bulletin issued Thursday predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind in some places across the country.

Heavy rainfall is predicted in some places over Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions.

Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged and day temperature may fall by (1-4)°C over the country, the bulletin added.

The country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 34.2 degrees Celsius at Sitakunda, and the lowest temperature on Thursday was 15 degrees Celsius at Tetulia.

The sun sets at 5:12pm on Thursday and rises at 6:14am on Friday in the capital.
