Postpone polls, hold dialogues: Raushan

Pointing out that there is not enough time before the 12th national elections, the Jatiya Party's Chief Patron and Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament, Raushan Ershad has called for postponing the polls and holding dialogues between the political parties first.

"We are respectful of the constitution, and welcome the polls schedule. However, there is not enough time. It should be extended," she said

She expressed her opinion when she paid a call on President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban on Sunday.

"November 30 is the last date for submitting nominations. It is also the last date for submitting income tax returns. So submitting nominations will create problems with submitting returns. This is another reason to push back the schedule," Raushan added.

Referring to the president as the state's guardian, she requested him to call for all the political parties to hold dialogues.

Jatiya Party Chief Whip Moshiur Rahman Ranga, Member of Parliament Rahgir Al Mahi Ershad Saad, and Principle Raushan Ara Mannan, and Raushan Ershad's spokesperson Kazi Md Mamunur Rashid were also present there.
