Low pressure likely to form over Bay

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted a low-pressure area likely to form over the South Andaman Sea and the neighbourhood around November 27.

The low-pressure area is likely to intensify, according to a BMD update issued Saturday.

According to BMD Meteorologist Tariful Newaz, the low-pressure area could form a couple of days later in the week as well. It may approach Sri Lanka or Tamil Nadu.

When asked if the low pressure may turn into a hurricane, the meteorologist replied that it cannot be said for certain right away.

"The weather may remain dry with temporary partly cloudy sky over the country," according to the BMD weather bulletin. The weather is likely to remain the same with little change over the next five days.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged.

The country's maximum temperature on Friday was recorded at 31.3 degrees Celsius at Teknaf and the minimum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 14.7 degrees Celsius at Tetulia.

The sun sets at 5:11pm on Saturday and rises at 6:20am on Sunday in Dhaka.
