No Western pressure on commission: EC Ahsan Habib

Election Commissioner Brigadier General (Retd.) Md Ahsan Habib Khan said there is no pressure from the West countries on the Election Commission.

“I don't know if there is any pressure on the country. If any, the government will understand that, the politicians will also understand that.”

He said these things to the journalists at the end of the exchange meeting on the occasion of the 12th national parliament election at Khulna District Commissioner's conference room on Monday afternoon.

Habib also said, "We have never said about rescheduling of the election. It is our heartfelt wish that all parties will participate in the national polls. In the commission meeting, we will sincerely try to consider any party's request for rescheduling. A decision will be made after discussion. We have an obligation that the parliamentarians to be sworn in by January 28.”
