AK Azad hopes to establish industrial area in Faridpur if elected

On the occasion that he is elected as a member of parliament, Faridpur District Awami League Advisor AK Azad has said establishing an industrial area in Faridpur will be one of his main goals.

AK Azad, a former FBCCI president, and Ha-meem Group managing director, will contest in the upcoming 12th parliamentary elections as an independent candidate from the Faridpur-3 (Sadar) constituency.

"I want to bring gas from Bhola to Faridpur and build an industrial area. I want to create employment opportunities for the people in this district," he said.

Mentioning that a jute industry flourished in the region in the 1960s, AK Azad lamented that the industry is now nearly extinct. However, there is now the scope of building more industrial factories in Faridpur as the Padma Bridge was completed, he said.

"As the quality of education is not high in Faridpur, youths face difficulties in securing a job. So I will also work to improve the quality of education," AK Azad said.

He has plans to improve the law and order situation, as well as the healthcare sector. He also aims to hasten the process of reaching the supply of electricity to char areas on the other shore of the Padma River.

AK Azad made the announcement to contend as an independent candidate at a meeting of his supporters and leaders-activists at the auditorium of his residence in the Jhiltuli area of Faridpur city at around 8:30pm on Monday.
