42 aspirants appeal to get back candidacy

A total of 42 candidates whose candidacies were cancelled have appealed to the Election Commission to be allowed to take part in the next general elections, which are scheduled for January 7.

Applications were received between 10 am and 4 pm, in accordance with the EC schedule, since the process will run through December 9.

Appeals will be decided throughout the week of December 10–15.

A total of 2,716 candidates filed nomination papers to compete in the elections. Out of these, 731 nomination papers were cancelled and 1985 nomination papers were approved.
