4 dead in Tejgaon train fire

Miscreants set fire to three compartments of the Mohonganj Express at the capital's Tejgain Railway Station. Four dead bodies were recovered from one compartment afterwards.

The incident happened at dawn on Tuesday, Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) media cell official Shahjahan Shikder confirmed. 

He told the Daily Samakal, "The FSCD received information about the fire at 5:04am. Three units of the Tejgaon Fire Station reached the spot at 5:12am and started firefighting under police watch. The fire was doused at 6:45am."

The identity of the four deceased could not be confirmed.

Citing eyewitnesses, Tejgaon Police Station Officer in Charge Mohammad Mohsin said the train from Netrakona was headed for Dhaka. Passengers spotted fire after passing the Airport station. Then the train driver stopped at Tejgaon Station.

The train was moved from Tejgaon Station at 7am.
