Judgment in graft case against Mirza Abbas on Jan 24

A Dhaka court on Thursday set January 24 for pronouncing judgment in a case filed against BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas for amassing illegal wealth and concealing the information.

Judge Manjurul Imam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 passed the order as the verdict of the case was not prepared by Thursday.

The ACC on August 16, 2007, filed a case with Ramna Police Station for amassing an illegal wealth of Tk 7.54 crore and concealing information about the wealth of Tk 57.26 lakh.

ACC assistant director Md Khairul Huda after probing the case, filed a charge sheet on May 24, 2008, accusing Abbas of amassing illegal wealth of Tk 4.23 crore.

The court on June 16, 2008, framed charges against Mirza Abbas.
