National committee meets to coordinate cardiac stent price

The Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA) held a meeting on Sunday morning to coordinate the price of cardiac stents in the country.

The meeting included 13 members, as well as representatives of the law enforcement agencies. However, representatives of the cardiac stent-supplying companies were not invited to the meeting.

Earlier in December, the DGDA fixed the maximum retail price of cardiac stents. A letter was issued to hospitals on December 12, directing them to follow the price chart.

However, discrepancies in the pricing prompted the suppliers to call a strike, causing a crisis. The DGDA called the meeting in light of the situation.
