Man jailed for 10yrs for beating father in Ctg

A Chattogram court has sentenced a man to 10 years of imprisonment for beating his father.

The court of fourth Additional Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge Shariful Alam Bhuiyan delivered the judgment on Monday.

The convict is Jiku Chowdhury, 35, son of Dr Mukul Shill, a resident of south Kattali. 

The court also fined him TK 20,000, in default, he has to suffer one year more imprisonment. 

As per the prosecution, Jiku beat his father on September 30, 2020 as he refused to give him Tk 1,20,000. 

Mukul Shill filed a case with Pahartali police station against son Ziku Chowdhury.

On January 8, 2021, police submitted charge sheet while the court framed charges on May 23 in 2023.
