Shammi, Sadiq out of polls race

Former Barishal city mayor and independent candidate from the Barishal-5 constituency Sadiq Abdullah, and Awami League (AL) candidate, secretary of international relations Shammi Ahmed from the Barishal-4 constituency, are both unable to contest in the 12th national elections slated for January 7.

The Supreme Court Appellate Division has scrapped Shammi's leave to appeal to get her candidacy back. Meanwhile, the Appellate Division also rejected a petition filed by Sadiq to get his candidacy back.

A bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan passed the orders on Tuesday.
