28 arrested in DMP anti-drug drives

Members of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in several anti-drug drives arrested 28 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs in the last 24 hours.

The drives were carried out simultaneously at different parts of the metropolis from 6am on Friday to 6am on Saturday, according to a DMP release.

During the anti-drug drives, police seized 4,687 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets, 127.5 gm of heroin, 37 kg 100 gm of cannabis (ganja), and 39 bottles of Phensedyl, the release added.

Police filed 16 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
