BNP men involved in train fire, 8 arrested: DB chief

Some leaders and activists of the BNP, including Dhaka City South BNP joint general secretary Nobi Ullah Nobi, are involved in the Benapole Express train fire in the capital's Gopibagh on Friday night, according to the Detective Branch (DB) of Police.

Eight people, including Nobi, were arrested on Friday night, DB chief of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Mohammad Harun-Or-Rashid told journalists at a press conference at the DMP media centre on Saturday.

The arrestees are, Nobi Ullah Nobi, 66, Dhaka City South Jubo Dal member Mohammad Monsur Alam, 42, Kamrangichar Thana Jubo Dal Ward 57 joint convener Russel Kabir, 44, and Salauddin, 35, Delowar, 44, Ward 56 joint convener Hasan, 38, and Lalbagh Thana Jubo Dal joint convener Iqbal Hossain Swapan, 42.
