Stern action if electoral duty is neglected: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said strict action will be taken if electoral duty is neglected by anyone involved in the polls. 

He said that the EC is trying its level best to conduct fair, acceptable and impartial elections. 

He made the comments in his address to the nation on Saturday evening on the occasion of the 12th National elections.

CEC said this year's elections are not contested at the desired level. The Election Commission is concerned about the recent incidents of vandalism and violence. However, any crisis can be resolved through negotiation and compromise, he opined.

However, Kazi Habibul Awal urged the voters to go to the polling centre to exercise their right to vote.
