Voter turnout 41.8pc in national polls: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal said around 41.8 percent of votes were cast in the 12th parliamentary election, which took place on Sunday.

He disclosed this to media at the Election Commission during a meeting with a group of Japanese election observers and Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Watanabe Masato on Monday.

The CEC stated that the Japanese ambassador and observers praised the commission for holding a fair election. 

He claims that after observing the polls in other places, they concluded that Bangladesh may potentially gain insights from this election. 

The CEC declared that they also appreciated the professionalism of the country's polling agents.
